I originally came to Divine Savior Parish in June of 2009 and after meeting Fr. Roman, I was hired to serve as the Director of Liturgy & Worship. In November of 2011, I made the difficult decision to leave Divine Savior to return to ministry with young people. In June of 2021, I was invited to rejoin the parish staff and am currently serving as Director of Adult Faith Life for our parish. It is such a blessing to return to serve in such a wonderfully vibrant community!
I grew up at our neighboring parish, Holy Family in Citrus Heights, and became very active in the youth group there. This, I am certain, provided for me an experience of faith and Jesus that set me on the path to following God's plan that I would find a vocation in ministry within the Church. In 1990, at the age of 19, I was hired as the Coordinator of Youth Ministry & Confirmation in my home parish. In 1994, I graduated from CSU Sacramento with a BA in Liberal Studies and in 2004, with a Masters in Pastoral Ministry from Loyola University in New Orleans. For 12 years, I was energized by the spirit and faith of countless young people at Holy Family. After the birth of my child in 2000, I began to desire a change in my ministry path. In August of 2002, I found a home at Loretto High School in Sacramento as the Director of Campus Ministry, coordinating school-wide retreat, liturgy, and faith opportunties for students, parents and staff. Unfortunately, in 2009, Loretto High School was closed by the IBVM sisters yet the hidden blessing of Divine Savior was revealed to me! I very much enjoyed overseeing and directing the liturgical life of the parish and was blessed with such amazing and beautiful experiences here. However, in 2011, with input from my family, and a longing to return to working with high school students, I rejoined staff at Holy Family, once again coordinating the Youth Ministry and Confirmation programs. In 2012, I had the opportunity to reenter the realm of Campus Ministry at Christian Brothers High School in Sacramento where I served for 8 years.
It's hard to believe looking back to my 19 year-old self that I have had such a full journey in ministry with an abundance of blessings whether in youth ministry, faith formation, RCIA, liturgy and worship, classroom teaching, VBS, parish and diocesan event planning, service immersions, faith sharing and bible study, campus ministry, retreats, and so much more! And now, each day brings about new blessings in ministry here at Divine Savior. A few things that have brought great joy here of late are working with PPC, Silver Bells, Winter Sanctuary, Retreats, and helping to support in other ways I am able!
I have been married to my husband, Scot for nearly 30 years and am proud mom, to Jessie who will graduate from Seattle University in June of 2022. I enjoy singing, camping, taking pictures, crafting, and the beach! Scot and I live in West Roseville with our crazy goldendoodle, Oliver!
